In Focus: Latest Milestones
Our newest Partner Kilimo Round Table
We’re excited to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Uchumi Institute and Kilimo Roundtable Africa. This partnership marks a strategic step forward in advancing evidence-driven policy engagement and strengthening multi-stakeholder collaboration in Tanzania’s agricultural sector. Together, we aim to amplify dialogue, research, and actionable insights that support a more resilient and inclusive food system.
Strengthening Local Food Systems
Uchumi Institute recently partnered with Rikolto to deliver a targeted capacity-building program for the Arusha City Council. This initiative focused on enhancing the council’s understanding of sustainable food systems, with tailored sessions designed to build knowledge around urban food planning, nutrition-sensitive policies, and inclusive stakeholder engagement. By equipping local leaders with the tools to make informed decisions, we’re supporting long-term strategies that improve food access, boost local economies, and build climate-resilient cities.
Empowering Youth in Agri-Policy
We’re working with AGRA to amplify youth voices in Tanzania’s policy landscape. Through research and dialogue, this ongoing project is shaping bold, youth-driven solutions for agri-entrepreneurship.

Africas Future Now
Based in Tanzania; which is one of the worlds fastest growing countries, the objective of the Think Tank is to play the role of narrowing the gap between research and policy that exist in Tanzania and other parts of Africa. Available evidence suggests that, Think Tanks in Africa ranks low in comparison to other Think Tanks in the world. Uchumi Institute will strive to narrow this gap by conducting research and support policy makers in formulating policies and implementation while investing in analysis and linking with produced evidence to support planning and decision making. We provide a platform for informed discussions in order to influence public policy in Tanzania and other parts of the world. We seek to promote pluralism of ideas through open, active and informed debate on public policy issues. We undertake research and conduct public education on key economic and topical issues in public affairs in Tanzania and the region, and utilize the outcomes of the research for policy dialogue and to influence policy making.
